Akacia Quotes

I think as far back as 1999 to 2000, I had the idea of getting some recording equipment and doing a recording project. Gradually, the idea developed into assembling a specific group of musicians to play on a whole album (rather than a larger number of "special guest" appearances). More and more, I was inclining towards a project that would convey spiritual themes to symphonic prog. Prog has always been what I'm into - but it's always seemed to be a challenge finding others who wanted to play prog, which is why it was not a no brainer to just do prog from the get-go.

I write from the gut. Some of it reflects clear influences, and some of it may seem like nothing else, but I don't necessarily think in those terms when writing. There's a lot of talk about the importance of breaking new ground, and that is a great thing, but let's not miss the genius of JS Bach whose means of breaking new ground was precisely in his ability to take many musical strands that existed up to his time, and use them in different and advanced ways. He was clearly reflecting his influences in his writing.
