Short Bio: (parts copied from their official site)
Simian Mobile Disco is the English production and remix team of James Ellis Ford and James Anthony Shaw. Their debut album, Attack Decay Sustain Release was released June 18th 2007, on Wichita Recordings. Originally paired in the late 1990's the duo of Ford, Shaw along with fellow Manchester University housemates, Simon Lord and Alex MacNaughten mixed together numerous singles, and headed out for one ill-fated U.S. tour. They were simply called Simian. Though never hiting it mainstream they did have one party anthem, called 'Never Be Alone' which can still be heard at clubs to this day. By 2005 their record company decided to launch a competition for bedroom acts to remix ‘Never Be Alone’. A then unknown French production duo called Justice entered and didn’t win. (James blames this on the dodgy stereo they had to listen to the entries on). This remix was later picked up by DJs like Erol Alkan and became a huge success. Simian Mobile Disco then made a few tunes of their own, releasing them on small labels such as Kitsuné and Click Click Bang, run by their friends. Now they toured extensively, and were booked to play places including the Club NME Tour and superclubs like Fabric. They were then signed up by Wichita for an album deal and are set to release their debut album ‘Attack Decay Sustain Release’ on 4th June 2007. All the tracks on the album began as extended club tracks they used while playing live, but have been edited down to try and keep the album varied and punchy. Guest artists featured on the album include Simon Lord, Barry Dobbin from Clor and Go! Team frontwoman Ninja.
